The album includes 112 works by well-known, little known and unknown authors, whose works are preserved at the Art Gallery of Lviv. In the Introduction the history of the museum's collection, the peculiar way of its formation as well as the specific features of the collected material are outlined. The articles devoted to selected works deal with biographical data, main stages of the artists’ evolution and general review of separate art schools and centers. Due attention is paid to the interpretation of the subject matter, themes and idea content of included compositions, artistic methods and techniques of their stylistic realization are analyzed.
The publication will he of interest not only to specialists in the theory and history of art, artists, teachers and students of art, but to all lovers of fine arts and culture.
